Updated analysis of NN elastic scattering to 3 GeV

چکیده
In our previous analysis of nucleon-nucleon (NN) elastic scattering data [1], the upper energy limit was extended from 2.5 to 3.0 GeV in the laboratory kinetic energy, Tp, in order to accomodate higher-energy proton-proton (pp) scattering measurements from SATURNE II at Saclay and the EDDA Collaboration at COSY. Comparisons were made with the direct amplitude reconstruction (DAR) and partial-wave analysis (PWA) study of Ref. [2], which gave amplitudes to 2.7 GeV. In some cases, where the DAR allowed 2 distinct solutions, our energy-dependent and single-energy results were seen to follow different sets of DAR amplitudes. With additional precise measurements, it was expected that these descrepancies would be removed. Such data have now appeared and our fits have changed substantially as a result. In the following, we will list those data recently added to our database. After a brief reminder of the differences between the PWA and DAR techniques, we will give our latest fit results. Some of the changes have been quite large, and these are discussed in light of the constraints imposed by the earlier Saclay DAR results. Finally, we summarize the status of the NN problem and consider what further work may be expected.

Updated analysis of NN elastic scattering data to 1.6 GeV.
An energy-dependent and set of single-energy partial-wave analyses of NN elastic scattering data have been completed. The fit to 1.6 GeV has been supplemented with a low-energy analysis to 400 MeV. Using the low-energy fit, we study the sensitivity of our analysis to the choice of πNN coupling constant. We also comment on the possibility of fitting np data alone. These results are compared with...
متن کاملNONDYNAMICAL ANALYSIS OF SPIN AMPLITUDES IN PION-PROTON ELASTIC SCATTERING IN OPTIMAL FORMALISM AT 6.0 GeV/C
Optimal conditions are used in nondynamical formalism to diagonalize the pionproton reaction matrix as much as possible. Invariance laws are imposed to simplify the relationship between observables and bilinear combination of amplitudes. Transverse amplitudes are determined by using measured polarization parameter in xfp elastic scattering at 6.0 GeVIC

A partial-wave analysis of NN elastic scattering data has been completed. This analysis covers an expanded energy range, from threshold to a laboratory kinetic energy of 2.5 GeV, in order to include recent elastic pp scattering data produced by the EDDA collaboration at COSY. The results of both single-energy and energy-dependent analyses are described. INTRODUCTION This analysis of elastic NN ...
متن کاملHELICITY AND PLANAR AMPLITUDES IN PION-PROTON SCATTERING AT 6.0 GeV/c
In addition to optimal conditions, invariant laws of Lorentz, parity and time reversal are imposed to find the relation between observables (spin rotation parameters) and bilinear combination of helicity amplitudes in pion-proton elastic scattering at 6.0 GeV/c. By normalizing the differential cross-section to unity, the magnitudes of helicity amplitudes and the angle between them are dete...
متن کاملFrom soft to hard regime in elastic pion-pion scattering above resonances
We discuss the onset of the dominance of the Glauber-GribovLandshoff (GGL) component of pQCD hard two-gluon (2G) exchange contribution to hard elastic ππ scattering at moderate energies . Such a hard ππ scattering could via final state interaction on the γγ → π+π− reaction in which pQCD quark-exchange contribution is known to be short of strength. While in the nonrelativistic approximation the ...
